At this time of year, we stop to reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Good Friday and Easter Sunday mark pivotal events both in human history and God’s redemptive plan for all of His creation.

On Good Friday, we remember Jesus Christ’s death on the brutal Roman cross. We remember the physical, emotional, and mental anguish that Jesus went through. We remember how alone Jesus felt. His total sense of separation from the Father as He bore all our sin on the cross. We are also reminded that Jesus’ death is the ultimate demonstration of His love for fallen humanity.

On Easter Sunday, we celebrate the glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We remember that the grave and death itself could not hold Jesus. We remember the joy of the disciples when they encountered the Risen Lord. We remember the mighty victory that Jesus has won for us all.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we can reflect on these things everyday and not just at Easter time. We can reflect that we were once spiritually dead in sin but have now been raised with Christ. Ephesians 2:4-7.
